Kid's Curtains Should Match Their Personality
Kid's Curtains
Every kid has a distinct personality. Therefore, it is smart policy to design their room around that personality, in order to best match the kid to the room. Each child’s bedroom should serve as his or her inner sanctum, a place to come back to entirely separate from the hustle and bustle of the outside world. In terms of shutting out that craziness, the only thing more important than a thick door are thick curtains.
Designing the color and fabric scheme for your kid’s curtains can often be way more fun than designing for adult’s rooms. That’s because these curtains don’t have to be elegant enough to hang in a palace. Instead, they can be fun and “out there”! There’s no reason for using boring, staid colors when exciting options like pink are out there waiting to be picked off the rack! Popular kid’s curtains often are made of fun fabrics like corduroy or plaid. As for the pattern, you can go crazy here too. Why not spring for something off the wall like a wild polka dot scheme?
Another important thing to consider is that as adolescents grow into teenagers, they often experience a dramatic change in sleep habits. Though young kids are often early risers, teens often go to sleep later after long nights of studying (or video game playing, as the case may be!). That means at this point, your kid’s curtains need to be a bit thicker, so the sun doesn’t seep through and result in an early morning wakeup call.
Whether you plan on doing the work yourself or brining in a professional, keep your kid apprised of each step of the interior design process. After all, there’s nothing more disconcerting than finishing up hours of hard work only to have your child walk in with a disappointed look on his or her face.
Remember, you are designing your kid’s curtains for your kid! Get them involved in the process, and allow them to exercise their own creative genes. While you may not be able to get them to assist in the actual work of measuring, cutting, and sewing, they should at least be able to voice their opinion as the actual color and fabric of the curtains.
